PADS is a charitable, non-profit organization located in Burnaby, B.C. and serving people in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

PADS’ mission is to raise and train dogs for people who are facing the daily challenges of life with a disability other than blindness, in order to provide a greater level of independence and an enhanced quality of life.

PADS was established in 1987 with the goal of training hearing dogs for the deaf and hearing impaired, and in 1990 added service dogs for the physically challenged, and later facility therapy dogs to the types of assistance dogs it trains. PADS is a member of Assistance Dogs International (ADI - www.adionline.org) and in 2003 became one of the first six schools accredited by ADI.

Here is a photo of our first working pup in her working clothes to be a hearing ear dog for www.padsdogs.org

Her trainer/socializer is Pam Zimmerman and her training costs are being sponsored by the Royal Bank.

They have named her "Angel" which is also means ten shillings keeping with the banking theme.

If she passes all her training she will go on to be a hearing dog.

Angel was donated by Joy Parkin of Shady Maple Doodles
